
Toshiharu (Charlie) Chichibu has 20 years’ experience in the coal trading and investment business, having been involved with Sojitz’s coal investments in Australia and in Indonesia.
He joined Sojitz Corporation in Japan in 1992 and had previously been in Australia from 2003 to 2011. After spending 5 years in Tokyo he came back to Brisbane in 2016 as the Managing Director of Sojitz Coal Resources Pty Limited, a 100 % subsidiary of Sojitz Corporation, which manages Sojitz’s coal investments in QLD and in NSW.
Sojitz Corporation was formed out the union of Nichimen Corporation and Nissho Iwai Corporation, both companies that boast incredibly long histories. For more than 150 years, the business has helped and supported the development of countless countries and regions. Today, the Sojitz Group consists of approximately 400 subsidiaries and affiliates located in Japan and throughout the world, developing wide-ranging general trading company operations in a multitude of countries and regions.
